HP-8 Mini Block Plane--a small plane that does what only small planes can do, and that is the ability to do delicate and precise work using only one hand.The HP-8 is a tool for planing, chamfering and trimming of small wood stock. It also functions as a wood stock thicknesser that other ordinary planes cannot accomplish.
The Plane Iron
The blade is made of tool steel with a fine grind on both sides, which makes the cutting edge razor sharp. It can reach the hardness of HRC 60-62. You can achieve a great finish with your HP-8.
The HP-8 Mini Block Plane features a bevel-up iron bedded at 12 degrees creating an attack angle of 42 degrees.
A 30 Degree Honing Guide (Optional) and a 50 Degree Honing Kit (Optional) allow you to hone the plane irons to precisely 50 degrees for planing highly-figured orreversing grains in your work piece.
Precise Blade Adjustment System
The HP-8 Mini Block Plane has an adjustable blade depth mechanism with acombined feed and lateral adjustment knob, which makes the settings easy andaccurate. Rotating the adjustment knob one turn can make a fine adjustment of 0.07mm (approx. 0.003”) in the blade depth.

The Aluminum Sole and
Adjustable Throat Plate
The aluminum sole has a flatness of 0.05mm/0.002" that ensures a precision cutting andfeatures an adjustable mouth allowing for moving the throat plate forward and backward easily.
Thickness Planing
The most amazing capability of this small block plane is the ability to thickness plane small stock. With a set of Depth Skids dropped to your workbench surface and tighten, set the iron depth to a comfortable depth and plane until the plane quits cutting. The results will astonish you, all of your stock will be within 0.001” (0.025mm).
The plane depth skids are made of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, which ensures low friction and durability.
